For her stage debut in a kindergarten circus musical, Deborah Emmanuel desperately wanted to be a ballerina, but was made to wear a hairy bear suit instead. Since then, she has played more humans and animals with the Singapore Repertory Theatre, Disney and OKTO, and has performed her poetry at SPORE Art Salon, ContraDiction, and the Causeway Exchange Festival KL. She works in schools to spread her love for art as the beginning of change, because she knows that anyone can heal when they express themselves through art.
TEDxSingapore celebrated its 4rd anniversary by curating our 21st TEDx event since our launch on 15 April 2009. “Our Future, We Will Make” asked What shall we strive for? What makes us successful? …as a country, as a community, as a family, as individuals. What does success mean? What Singapore would we be proud to build for Singaporeans who will come after us? What deeply matters to you? What are our possibilities? Watch more talks and see photos from this event here: https://www.ted.com/tedx/events/8943
TEDxSingapore brings people together to seek a deeper understanding of ourselves and our world, and to inspire ideas and action for a better future for us all. Founded in April 2009, we are 100% Community-Created. Express your passion and inspiration with us, visit us at www.TEDxSingapore.sg
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
